The Count's castle or King's Tower were located on this square and even beyond, and had completely disappeared by the 19th century. Decked in colour and bathed in red, the market square returns to the rich times of the Counts of Chartres : restoring a vast arms room flaming with heraldic colours to the very site of the upper court, showing the commanding position of the Seigniorial residence within the heart of the city, giving sound to the gallop of the horses, causing the city's standard to flap in the wind, letting the fleeting shade of Thibault and his seneschals pace the ornamental tiling of the hall of justice. .
Place Billard is illuminated only during the two days of Festival of Light in September. |
