Fête de la Lumière
The highlight of Chartres en lumières, the Fête de la Lumière combines the magical atmosphere of the illuminations, the discovery of new scenographies and the festive atmosphere of the street shows, wanderings and animations.
Every two years, it is held on the Saturday of September, during the European Heritage Days. Visitors can then discover an original program that infinitely declines the theme of light during an exceptional festive evening.
For one evening, at nightfall, the heart of Chartres is set ablaze with street art shows, plastic installations, participatory and interactive activities, musical walks, exhibitions... we could never have imagined richer and more playful lights! A great opportunity to live disconcerting experiences
Highly anticipated, this event attracts an ever-increasing number of visitors, bringing together Chartra's inhabitants, neighbors from the region... and tourists from all over the world. With an attendance of nearly 50,000 visitors, it is the biggest event of the fall in the Centre-Val-de-Loire region.
Return on the 2019 edition - An exceptional best-of
Over the years, the artists' creations and the highlights offered by the city of Chartres have often left the spectators of the Fête de la Lumière speechless.
This is why the Chartres en lumières team has designed this 16th edition of the Fête de la Lumière as a best-of of the 15 previous editions. To do so, they have selected the installations and shows that have made the biggest impression on the public over the years.
Nevertheless, the team of Chartres en lumières did not forget to slip some surprises and a new show in the program.
