The Chartres Museum of Fine Arts

Classified as a historical monument in 1906, this former episcopal palace has been used as a set for several films. Today it houses a rich collection of ancient and modern art (Zurbaran, Chardin, Vlaminck, Soutine...) and an important Oceanic collection.

The 21 sites in the heart of Chartres are illuminated EVERY night, at dusk. 

  • From September 2 to 8 : from 9 :15 pm to 1 am.
  • From September 9  to October 30 : from 9 pm to 1 am.
  • From Octobre 31 to Novembre 12 : from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm.
  • From November 13 to 30 : from 6:15 pm to 10:30 pm.
  • From December 1 to January 14 : from 6 pm to 10:30 pm.

Guided tours

The Chartres tourist office offers guided tours for the most curious: "Chartres en lumières" and "Légendes et illumations en bord de l'Eure".
