Fête de la Lumière

See you on 16 September 2023 to see Chartres illuminated with a new Fête de la Lumière.

On Saturday 16 September, the Festival of Light will be back. Visitors will be able to discover an original programme with an infinite number of variations on the theme of light during an exceptional festive evening.

The main event of this edition should consist of a bio-luminescent show designed in partnership with a local start-up incubating at 101, the innovation city of Chartres métropole. The company Aglaé, which makes plants luminous, is working on a marvellous garden in place of the one at the Chartres City Hall and Agglomeration.

Street and art shows, musical walks, exhibitions... Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy some disturbing experiences.

Every two years, the Festival of Light is held on the third Saturday of September, on the occasion of the European Heritage Days. The highlight of Chartres en Lumières, the Festival of Light combines the magical atmosphere of the illuminations, the discovery of new scenographies and the festive atmosphere of the street shows, walks and activities.

The event is eagerly awaited and attracts an ever-growing number of visitors, bringing together Chartra's inhabitants, neighbours from the region and tourists from all over the world. With an attendance of around 50,000 visitors, it is the biggest event of the autumn in the Centre-Val-de-Loire region.
