The Festival of Light
The highlight of Chartres in Lights, the Festival of Light combines for one evening the magical atmosphere of illuminations, the discovery of new scenographies and the festive atmosphere of street shows, strolls and entertainment.
The Festival of Light is a free event organised by the City of Chartres and taking place in the heart of the city of Chartres.
The 2020 Festival of Light [Canceled]
The health situation shows that the movement and grouping of people can help to maintain the spread of the Coronavirus in the country. In observance of the rules given by the Government, the City of Chartres had to resolve to cancel the Festival of Light for the year 2020.
The illuminations of Chartres In Lights are staggered and will take place from July 11, 2020 to January 3, 2021, every evening at the following times:
- Until October 24th: from 9 pm to 1 am.
- From October 25th to October 28th: from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm.
- From October 29th to November 7th: from 6:15 pm to 10:30 pm.
- From November 8 to November 19: from 6:00 pm. to 10:30 p.m.
- November 20 to January 3, 2021: 5:45 pm. to 10:30 pm.
A look back at the 2019 Festival of Light
The last Festival of Light took place on Saturday, September 21, 2019. With the help of good weather, the public was able to enjoy sixty shows and activities presented from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. throughout the downtown area and even as far as André-Gagnon Park.
